Hey again guys! So the other day I posted my Auction House Ui Guide, and got some good comments. The truth is I completed this guide months ago on another wow forum, and my response there was pretty good as well, however I kinda promised everyone there that I would do a follow up guide of sorts, focusing more on what I buy and sell specifically, and what I add to Market Watcher, as well as post more tips that I have. So, I decided to honor that promise and give everyone a comprehensive run-down of all the tricks I have learned across my Auction House journeys! I told you guys I would pack this blog with content (I think I did) so I will, though I feel this enthusiasm might be directly related to the fact that I have been itching to get voice heard for so long in the WoW World so enjoy!

First off, if you haven’t read the first part of this guide, you might miss things due to references that you don’t know anything about.

DISCLAIMER: All my Tips and opinions are based on my experiences on my server, though I feel they absolutely apply to all servers. There will be a chance that one or two of my tips just wont apply to your server.

Market Watcher: What to watch

A lot of people have asked me what I watch and scan for when it comes to auctioning, here is the list, included will be links to wowhead, tool-tips, and a short discription why.

All Raw Colored Gems:

Who? and Why?: Everyone, because you can purchase these with Honor and Badges (Which are usually very plentiful) 10,000 Honor or 10 Emblem of Heroism will buy you any one of the epic colored gems. You can purchase them from:
Alliance:
Captain O,Neal
Arcanist Ivrenne

Horde:

Lady Palanseer

Magistrix Lambriesse

Nuetral:
Harold Winston

King’s Amber

Cardinal Ruby

(And Cardinal Ruby)
Ametrine
Majestic Zircon
Eye of Zul
Dreadstone

Orbs:

Frozen Orb

Everyone should watch Frozen Orbs, as many times they are under priced, and they are a good item to buy low and sell high. Also they are moderately easy to attain, because they are dropped at the end of every level 8 instance.
Runed Orb

There are not commonly found on the AH with my experience so only watch them if you have the extra emblem of conquest to spare. You would be watching these as to see when to sell your own, avoid buying and selling of these unless your server has the demand for it.
Crusader Orb

These are the hot new items, release in 3.2 (I believe?) they are used to craft high ilevel epic items and are big money makers, only monitor these if you are a high end raider and wish to find the best time to sell these. These are also rarely seen on the ah at reasonable prices, so avoid buying and selling unless you know what you are doing.

Eternals:

Who? and Why?: Eternals can be purchased low and sold high all the time, ABUSE market watcher on these, find the large dips in price and buy as many of them as you can, then sell them when there is either a shortage of them or they are being sold for a much higher amount, try Friday or Weekends, but I suggest trusting your Market Watcher data on this one.

Eternal Fire
These usually stay at a consistantly high price due to their rarity, if you don’t want a high risk, monitor and sell these.

Eternal Water
These usually sell very low, keep some on you or your auction alt at all times in case of a shortage or price fluctuate, otherwise don’t sweat trying to sell these.

Eternal Air
This is a mixed bag, they sell for cheap on my server, I hear they sell the best on other servers (And according to WoWHead) use Watcher to determine the worth of these.

Eternal Earth
Sometimes these can sell for a great price, they are popular for tanking enchants, keep an eye on these.

Eternal Shadow
Eternal shadow is one of the cheaper Eternals, sometimes the price can go up, but often they are very available and sell low.
Eternal Life
These are the hot ticket items, these can go for some insanely high prices, 22g even up to 25g! If you are an Herbalist, you are in luck as you get Crystallized Life from herbs, and I have made some major profits with Eternal Life. I suggest watching these if you don’t want to watch the others.

Fish

Only watch these items if you fish, there is great potential to make money with them if you wait for the perfect day.
Glacial Salmon
These sometimes can be sold for INSANE prices, as most people are too lazy to fish them up themselves, Ill talk more about these late in the post.

Musslback Sculpin
Watch these and…

Nettle Fish
These as well, they are used for Fish Feasts, for Raiders, Buy these low on off days, and sell on your Servers most popular Raid times! (Usually Wednesday or Thurs)

Other Items:

Frost Lotus
These are used in raiding flask as well as other items, and consistantly are in demand and sell well. The price fluctuates but is mostly high, these are great buy low sell high items.

Greater Cosmic Essence
Greater Cosmic Essences are used in most level 80 Enchantments, these are fast moving, and the prices jump constantly, a perfect example of a buy low sell high item.

Infinite Dust
Similar to Greater Cosmic Essences, these are used often and the prices fluctuate allot, there is a LOT of compitetition for selling Infinite dust, so it might be hard to find the right time to sell them, you have to watch the prices closely on these and sell them always on the day they peak, even if there are a lot for sale.

Frostweave Cloth
if you have played WoW at all, you would know that on top of everything else, Cloth is (nearly) the number one traded commodity in wow since the beginning. Everyone knows how to get it, only a few things you gotta know:
1: Buy it if it’s being sold for cheaper than you can sell it to a vendor as bandages, this happens often.
2: Keep lots on you and sell when its selling good.

That’s about it for now, there are others to watch, but they are more speciality and take more advanced auction mastery to really make good money off them.

The One Copper under-cut:

Now that we got all the items I watch in Market Watcher, we can get started with the tips
The first one I want to talk about is the 1 copper undercut.

This tip should be pretty obvious to everyone, because it is simple and makes sense, if you sell items and you want to move them fast, but you dont want to lose money, set both your Buyout and your Bid 1 copper less than the competition. This does 2 things.

1: You are at the top of the list when someone searches for an item
2: No one can buy your items then resell them for profit! This is the important one, because no one can outsmart you, they have to sit and watch as you sell yours first

But lets not stop there, how can we make Auctioneer automate this so we don’t have to type in a bunch of numbers when we set up auctions? SIMPLE, we change a small setting in auctioneer, go to your “Post tab” Then click Configure at the top:

Then Scroll to this section ad set to “Fixed Price” And put 1 Copper

WoW Toplist:

This is a simple tip for people who have in-sufficient Market Watcher data and want to get started now, or want to compare their market data to something outside the server.
Im sure you are wondering what a WoW  Toplist is, in fact you wouldn’t believe how many people don’t now about this.
Blizzard has a section on their site called Toplists that contain top lists like “Most Dangerous NPCS” and “Most Created Items” Well, there is also a “Most Auctioned Item” List

You can make use of this list buy finding when certain items are very popular, and find out which days are the off days. Though this list won’t be as reliable as your Market Watcher since your data will show prices and be based off your server

You can configure the Toplist to show 7 days so you can compare the entire week with ease, and find that perfect day where Runecloth is selling the cheapest. Here is the list showing that Flask of the Frostwym would sell the best on Wednsday and be the cheapest to buy on Tuesday.

I’m pretty sure all of you can see the great potential to use this tool!

Monopolize!

I can’t stress how important this is, if your scans show that a certain item isn’t on the AH and you have some, SELL IT, and don’t sell it reasonable either, GOUGE the price, take something you bought for 15g and sell it for like 40-50g Some people are desperate, and don’t want to wait to farm the items they want and since they have no other option but to buy yours, they will begrudgingly hand over their gold to ya.

My favorite item to do this with is Overcharged Capacitor They are never sold on the AH, but I get lots of them from Ulduar and or mobs around Ulduar with little to no effort. I sell them for upwards of 40-50g a piece. I always have a monopoly. They are used for a few engineering enchants as well as Crafting Jeeves. They don’t always sell because they are not high demand items, but I can sell 2 a day or so, which isn’t bad if you keep on top of all of these strategies and sell stuff every day.

My recent Success

Most people don’t like to divulge their best secrets as to not have too many people running around with their success, I’m not like that I have no problem sharing!
Most recently I have gotten hold of some serious gold selling Glacial Salmon and Eternal Life on the auction house. Not sure what it is, but I can sell these like hot cakes, they are often off the AH which allows me to Monopolize, and they are relatively easy to farm.

So..I could have probably summed this up in one sentence, Watch good selling items, compare to WoW’s Toplist, Undercut by 1 copper, Monopolize whenever possible, and find your niche item and own it.
