Addon Spotlight: Tidy Plates

Yeah yeah, I know WoW.com does a feature on addons like this, but hey! I really like this addon and it has changed the way I play considerably. Also I figured why re-invent the wheel, so this is my first addon spotlight for the addon Tidy plates, and its module, Clean Plates. I swear guys that I will get back to my normal blogging habit,it’s just I got this new awesome job, getting lots of clients and graphics work and right now its just hectic. It will soothe out once everything is launched and I can start blogging much more often, because I really plan to. Anyway, on to the spotlight.

So I stumbled apon this addon very recently, though I know is has been around for a long time. When I first heard of the idea back when it was a new mod, and saw some of the first plate designs, I thought, ughh why would anyone replace their default plates for these??! turns out it has gained popularity and other have made modules for it. The one I have started using is Clean Plates. The reason I like Clean Plates is that I like having nameplates above the characters in the game which helps me see which enemy is the lowest so I can apply my burst without alt tabing everyone. Before using Tidy Plates, I used Blizzards default plates. They worked for a while but there were annoyances. One being that pets and other un-important things had the same color and style plates as human players and or npcs. It was annoying because sometimes in PvP Ill see a low healthbar, Ill click it, burst, then realize I wasted like 4 gcds on a pet or something. There are a few cool and practical uses for this, the first one being that the bars for enemy players are colored by class.

They help with those pesky mages and their clones. I know many of you will say, DUH its the one moving and using spells other than frost bolt. Its true, its not that hard to identify a mage among his own mirror images with nameplates, however when you are in a cluster-eff of players in BGs you will find the value in this mod.

The plates also help in arena in many ways, one of them being, the ability to show an icon for each of a Shaman’s totems. Now with a glance you can see the difference between a Stoneclaw Totem and a Tremor Totem.

They have practical PvE application as well due to the fact that the hange size based on being an elite, non elite, or boss.

There are other styles of bars too. You don’t have to use mine just cause I said so! There one ones shaped like charms, others like link’s healthbar from Zelda.

I have already updated my UI Suit which included my plate setup as well as other addon updates, including Lunarsphere, dominos and ForteXorcist II. Fel Fire UI
